This is a common question! What are the differences between the two? In theory, the Durolane has a higher molecular weight and so shouldn’t break down as easy. The evidence suggests an average difference of 4 months benefit instead of 6 with Durolane. Here at our Chesterfield, Derbyshire clinic we find them both to be effective and for similar times. We wonder if that is because we educate patients to exercise as well to get the most out of their injections. The HA injections can be used in conjunction with a steroid. We found this works really well gaining the anti-inflammaory effect to get the most out of the HA injections.
